Finding the right woman and asking her hand in marriage is not easy, but finding the ‘best’ best man may be an even more challenging task.
Let me say again: picking a best man is a serious and tricky business. It’s one of the decisions that the groom-to-be has to make even if he’s not actively participating in other aspects of the wedding planning. And with all the responsibilities of a best man, it’s a decision that must be made correctly.

Traditionally and historically, it is the best man who must take care of the rings, organize the bachelor’s night, ensure the groom-to-be makes it to the aisle in one piece, make the opening speech at the reception, and act as the personal assistant, support, and go-to guy. As the second in command, it’s also his job to keep the groom-to-be calm and relaxed throughout.
Now, when you think about all of these, you might immediately realize that your friend from high school—although the obvious choice—might not be the brightest choice. So dear groom-to-be, you should consider picking someone who is mature, experienced, and can withstand under pressure. Your best man should also have the following qualities.

He Must Be Dependable.
There are many errands that your best man may have to run, many details to keep in mind, and many matters to attend to on your behalf, so it is imperative to find someone who can work with little or no supervision; and someone you can trust to deliver even in the most severe of circumstances.

He Must Be Calm And Confident.
On the big day, it’s your best man job to keep you sane, at ease, and pepped up, so you should find someone who is comfortable in his own skin, self-assured, and secure. Trust me, you don’t want a restless, shy, easily irritated or an absent-minded person as your best man.

He Must Be Sociable.
An introvert, cold or antisocial man wouldn’t exactly make for a great best man. Because of the charged atmosphere around weddings, a best man should be someone who has a likable personality; and who is charismatic and charming, funny and focused, bold and strong, eloquent and nice.

He Must Be Organized
Because their roles can be extremely demanding, being a best man requires significant administrative and organizational skills. So pick someone who can handle loads of responsibilities, someone who possesses managerial abilities, and who can sort things out swiftly and efficiently.
