Should Height And Body Size Matter When Picking Bridesmaids?

By Peace Ikhielea |

This is a tough question because sometimes people wonder if you should consider the height and body size of your friends and family member before selecting them as bridesmaids. There is no rule that prescribes the requisite body type or height when choosing a bridesmaid; it comes down to what you truly want as a Bride.

For instance, you could be more of a petite person and your supposed best friend or sister is in the plus size. Some persons may say that they wouldn't want to have a plus size person as their maid of honor considering their slender or petite frame. You should do what works for you after all, it's your special day and moment. But in selecting your girls for that day, there are some things you should take note of.

Consider what your Groom wants as well for his groomsmen like the number; there should be a balance with the number you want to make the wedding organized.

Family decisions or input also matters. If your family or that of your in-law wants you to include a certain person on your train, I personally feel you should do so to avoid wrong conclusion about your type of person. It's only for a day, so you should make adjustments and let that person be part of your wedding train.

Choose women who mean the most to you. A stranger should not be part of your bridesmaid option except you honestly don't have close relatives or friends who you could use for that purpose.

Your bridesmaids have to be supportive of your marriage. This is very important; preferably you should pick people who in one way or another know the groom as well to a considerable extent or at least people who root for your marriage to your husband to be.

Note that not everyone qualifies as a bridesmaid. The fact that a person is your friend or family member doesn't necessarily validate such person being selected as one of your bridesmaids. Some persons may not be available on that day due to so many factors like pregnancy, distance, work schedules, etc. You should also make adjustments to accept that not everyone you tell will accept to be your bridesmaids also due to various factors. So you should have a lot of options to choose from in the event that one person is not able to perform that role.

Whatever decision you are making for your day particularly about your bridesmaids should make you comfortable and happy.
