An usher plays a critical role is helping to set the tone for your wedding and is often the first official welcome for your guests. Make sure to choose men that are naturally extroverted, who exude warmth, and have no problem making small talk for the five minutes it takes to help Grandma find her seat. There's a lot to do in a wedding, and an usher’s role is key to making sure it runs smoothly. These roles includes being the first to the ceremony, planning parking and transport arrangements, collecting order of service sheets, arranging the bride's arrival, organizing people for photos, even providing umbrellas should it rain.
PERSONALITY
When selecting ushers, consider their personalities. Because this will often be the first contact guests will have at your wedding, you want your ushers to exude warmth and hospitality. Pick confident guys that are good-humored and talented at small talk.
PROFESSIONALISM
Ushers are often used to ensure the event runs smoothly. Being an usher is not everyone’s job but everyone can be a good usher. Event can be ruined if the usher doesn’t do their job properly. For instance, if a guest asked questions regarding the event and ushers could not answer properly or even worse answer wrongly, it could give bad implications towards the event/organizers.
They need to be good in communicating. Communication skill is the first requirement in being an usher. If they can’t communicate well with other people, you clearly don’t need them.
OUTFIT
Good ushers possess good grooming skill and would look good all the time. Since they are basically the face of the event, they need to appeal to everyone present. They do not have to put so much make-up or wear 10 inches heels. Minimal make-up would be just nice since they don’t want to look like an opera singer who got lost.
Besides that, a good usher talks/speaks acts and walks properly. They need to give a really good impression about your event to your guests. Good first impression would give you a lot of benefits. You don’t want to go around and hearing negative things about reception.
